Social Venture Coordinator VISTA
Joshua Tarantino is serving Groundwork RI as an AmeriCorps VISTA, intending to expand food security and health equity through the Harvest Cycle compost program. With a background in biology and philosophy, they use whole systems thinking in their work toward environmental and community resilience. Joshua is interested in applying the regenerative qualities of permaculture to urban environments, seeing the potential for Rhode Island to integrate sustainability with its food system after many years of working in it. They see soil as a living and life-giving resource that we can co-create with nature. Community composting has the power to provide an abundance of healthy soil while transforming the relationships we have with ourselves, our food, this land, and each other.
Joshua is a Providence native, an artist, and hosts participatory performances to encourage connection amongst neighbors.
