Lacey Kohler

Urban Forestry Projects Manager

Lacey has been with the GWRI team since early 2023, when she joined as an AmeriCorps VISTA. She has been a full-time staff member since 2024, primarily focused on urban forestry work, but also assisting with community gardens and the youth employment program.

As the Urban Forestry Projects Manager, she supports her team in fulfilling multiple community forestry grants across seven municipalities. Lacey assists this effort with her skills in Arboriculture, data management, and GIS.

Lacey holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Alabama, which has equipped her with a foundation of environmental proficiency that informs her everyday work. She is committed to always expanding her knowledge and skills to improve her work. Lacey has been a Rhode Island-licensed arborist since April 2025.

Lacey believes in the power of green spaces to promote community, joy, and peace. She is highly motivated by the need for environmental justice in Rhode Island and beyond. Outside of work, Lacey enjoys long meandering walks around Providence, gardening with her pals, and ice cream.
