Lacey Kohler

Urban Greening Projects Coordinator

Lacey has been working with the Groundwork Rhode Island team since January 2023 when she joined as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer. As a full-time staff member, she is happy to continue the urban forestry work she had been doing as a VISTA and expand into new projects. As the Urban Greening Projects Coordinator, she will also support her coworkers in fulfilling a Community Food Project grant from the USDA. This project strives to expand community composting access in Rhode Island and connect community stewards with school garden plots.

Lacey holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Alabama, which has equipped her with a foundation of environmental proficiency that informs her everyday work. She is committed to expanding her knowledge and skills to improve her work; currently, Lacey is studying for the Rhode Island arborist exam.

Lacey believes in the power of green spaces to promote community, joy, and peace. She is highly motivated by the need for environmental justice in Rhode Island and beyond.
